Social-cognitive theory explains personality functioning in terms ofa complex system of cognitive and affective processes that develop and function in interaction with the social environment. It also highlights self-reflective and self-regulatory processes that contribute to individual psychological development and functioning. This theoretical framework has significant implications for personality assessment.
