Three moral development theories that have guidedempirical work in sport are briefly discussed in the first part of the paper. In the second part, research investigating moral issues in sport is reviewed. Initial work examined the effects of sport participation on moral development as reflected on one's level of moral reasoning and the link of the latter to morally relevant attitudes and behaviours.
